Art on the TownIn addition to the School of Art Galleries, visitors to Aberystwyth will find a combination of national treasures on regular display alongside a lively and varied programme of touring exhibitions. The group Art on the Town was established by the four main venues for visual arts in Aberystwyth to promote collaborative ventures.Work by Simon Carroll in the Ceramics Gallery, Aberystwyth Arts Centre As well as the galleries in the Edward Davies Building, our collection of studio ceramics is housed and displayed in the Ceramics Gallery at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the University campus. The Arts Centre is the main regional arts venue for mid and west Wales and hosts changing exhibitions in five individual exhibition spaces, as well as a theatre, concert hall, craftshop, cafe and bookshop. Aberystwyth Arts Centre The National Library of Wales is one of Britain's five copyright libraries and houses many national treasures including medieval manuscripts, early maps and books. The Library also houses an important collection of Welsh paintings, drawings, prints and photographs, which are available for research and displayed in changing exhibitions. The Library hosts touring shows as well as curating its own exhibitions. National Library of Wales Many items of local interest are on permanent display at Ceredigion Museum, which is housed in a beautifully restored Edwardian Music Hall. As well as its own fine collection of paintings, changing displays and touring exhibitions show the best in contemporary Welsh art.
