Paul Croft: Tokyo to Tamarind

19 June – 29 September 2000

Paul Croft received two major bursaries from the Elizabeth Greenshield’s Foundation that enabled him to travel to Japan in 1992 and then to train as a master Printer of Lithography at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1994. This exhibition of drawings and prints represented a range of work inspired by his interest in all things Japanese, New Mexican Petroglyphs and his passion for stone and plate lithography. Paul Croft is a Lecturer in Fine Art (Printmaking) at UWA School of Art.

Paul Croft: Prints from a Tamarind Portfolio

As part of the Tamarind Master Printer Training Programme, students are taught the rudiments of stone and plate lithography and learn to become collaborating printers, working with artists from different fine art disciplines. This exhibition included a wide range of lithographs printed by Paul Croft during his apprenticeship at the Tamarind Institute (1994-1996) and includes work by artists from the United States, Canada, Argentina, Dominican Republic, UK and Ireland.
