Illustration for poem ‘A Cloister Legend’, an old man / monk sits on the floor, side on in the right corner, and looks up to the image of Jesus Christ on the left. The bare footed monk holds his hands over his brow to shield his eyes from the radiating light of the Lord. Jesus stands, almost side on, in an oval of light, left hand raised, blessing the monk and the right hand by his side, still punctured with a crucifixion hole. Beneath him rosary bead with a cross pendant lie on the floor and behind him a single barred, arched window looks out of the stone cell into the outside. Detailed tonal wood engraving through line work and cross hatching with artists signature mark in the left corner. (p.200)
