Born: 1897, UK, England, South London   Died: 1954

Ceramicist. Born in South London, he did his National Service during the First World War. He became a clerk for the Civil Service, working for the Air Ministry. He married Grace Holland, a talented weaver and developed an interest in pottery, and was influenced by Bernard Leach. He trained at Camberwell School of Art in the 1920s. Concerned about the likelihood of another World War, he became a pacificst and joined the Quakers. Between 1938 and 1942 he established a pottery within the Maes yr Haf Quaker Settlement in the Rhondda, South Wales. In 1942 he left to work at the Odney Pottery in Cookham, supplying wares to the John Lewis Partnership retail outlets. Odney Pottery in Berkshire ran between 1937-1956.
