Printmaker. Studied Fine Art Printmaking Central St. Martins, London from 1983-6, followed by a year’s part-time postgraduate printmaking at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. Worked in London as an illustrator before studying horticulture, moving to Norfolk prompted her return to printmaking. The native flora of the North Norfolk coast and the Scottish Highlands inspire her work. ‘Garden Wisdom’ an anthology of garden writing published by Merrell is illustrated throughout by her prints, with author Leslie Gedded-Brown stating “The whole book was, in its turn, inspired by the art of Angie Lewin, who brings her own vision of the natural world to her work.” She is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, the Society of Wood Engravers, the Art Workers Guild and the Royal Watercolour Society. Her work is held in collections and galleries throughout the UK. Lewin has been commissioned by Penguin, Faber, Conran, Octopus, Merrell and Picador as well as designing fabrics for Liberty. She also designs fabrics and stationery for St Jude’s, which she runs along with her husband. In 2010, Merrell published a monograph titled ‘Angie Lewin – Plants and Places’. She currently lives and works in Scotland.
