Born: 1945, UK, England, Essex, Southend

Printmaker and painter. Studied at Colchester School of Art and the Royal College of Art, 1964–67, where he was awarded the K.M.P Lithography prize. In 1971, on recommendation from his former tutor Edward Bawden, he was commissioned to design a poster for London Transport. His work focuses on the landscape, highlighting changing local scenery. He was invited to make a suite of lithographs at the Curwen Press where he employed a similar technique to that of his woodcuts, scraping away areas and overprinting, resulting in the suite of reductive lithographs ‘Earth Works’. The abstract, textural pieces printed in muted, earthy tones captures something primal about man’s interaction with the landscape.
