Virginia Caroline Wade

Born: 1944

Exhibits under Gini Wade. Illustrator and printmaker. Studied printmaking and graphic design at the Central School of Arts & Crafts (now Central St Martins), London. She worked as an illustrator and children’s book author for many years, with work published by Macmillan and Penguin Books. She was a post-graduate student at Aberystwyth University from 2007-2010 where she earned an MA with Distinction in Fine Art. She is also a DJ – dance, dreams and celebrations inform many of her images - and makes animations. She has taught printmaking in Hong Kong and Guatemala, and currently runs lithography workshops for the Sidney Nolan Trust, Herts, and for Aberystwyth Printmakers. In 2014 she was accepted onto the prestigious Plate Lithography Summer Course at the Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque; a place renowned worldwide for excellence in lithography. Her prints are held in private collections worldwide, and publicly in the Wellcome Library Collection, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Zuckerman Museum of Art, and the Aberystwyth University Collection, among others. Wade was a guest speaker and exhibitor at the Hong Kong Graphic Fiesta 2011, and an invited exhibitor at HKArt in 2012. She is a director of Aberystwyth Printmakers and regularly contributes articles to Printmaking Today. She is based in mid-Wales where she continues to make prints.
