William Douglas Macleod

Born: 1892, UK, Scotland, Renfrewshire   Died: 1963

Painter, printmaker and cartoonist. Worked as a bank clerk, 1906-15, before serving in the First World War. He then studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1919-23, whilst also working as a cartoonist for the 'Glasgow Evening News', 1920-30. He lived and worked at Lenzie, Renfrewshire, until 1949. He produced etchings of people and landscapes from his travels to Algeria, Spain, Italy, Belgium and elsewhere. He exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Paris Salon
