Job Nixon

Born: 1891, UK, England, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent   Died: 1938

Printmaker. Undertook an apprenticeship as an engraver and worked as a businessman before obtaining a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, c.1910-12. He then served in the First World War, 1914-18, after which he resumed his studies attending the Slade School of Fine Art, 1918-19, and then the British School at Rome, 1920-23. On his return to London he taught as an assistant to Malcolm Osborne (1880-1963) at the Royal College of Art and later established his own art schools in Fulham and St Ives. He produced detailed etchings of landscapes and townscapes in Britain, France and Italy, such scenes often enriched by the activities of workers, commuters and gypsies
