Bernard Eyre Walker

Born: 1889, UK, England, Essex   Died: 1972, Keswick

Painter and printmaker. Son of the artist William Eyre Walker (1847-1930). Served as a corporal in WWI on the Western Front - a collection of his First World War illustrated diaries is held in the Liddle Collection of Leeds University. He then lived in Lincolnshire, Devon and, finally, the Lake District but made sketching trips to France, Majorca, Sweden, USA and, most of all, the Isle of Skye. He was a member of the Royal Society of Etchers and the Lakes Artists Society. Enthralled by mountainous landscapes, he produced detailed landscape etchings until the 1930s after which he mainly worked in watercolour
