Pete Davis

Born: 1947, UK, Wales, Cardiff

Photographer. Began as a technician before working for ten years as an advertising and fashion photographer in Cardiff. He moved to West Wales in 1977 where, along with the camera maker John Nesbitt, he ran his 'View Camera Workshops'. In 1992 he was appointed a senior lecturer in photography at the University of Wales, Newport where he is Course Leader of Documentary Photography. He is currently completing a PhD in Fine Art. He undertook a residency at Green Mountain College, Poultney, Vermont and has acted as a visiting lecturer in The Hague and Antwerp. His work has been published in exhibition catalogues, including 'Little Tin Sheds of Wales' (1984) and 'Northern Light' (1993), and in the photo book 'Cader Idris - Soul of a Lonely Place' (1997). He won the Wakelin Purchase Award in 2002. He produces large format photographs of landscapes in Wales, Ireland, America and Sardinia
