An invoice from the Central School of Arts and Crafts refers to a purchase of 'gold writing' by A.J.Fairbank. This is one of two known pieces of calligraphy done purely in gold leaf in the Collection (one being by Beatrix Holmes, See WD99) and is therefore presumed to be the work described in the invoice. Robert Bridges (1844-1930) was a poet and doctor who was appointed Poet Laureate in 1913
